India has had good representation in Tennis since the Open Era. While no Indian has been able to win the Singles Grand Slam, there have been successful players in the doubles and mixed doubles categories. In the 21st century, India has had many such players to win multiple Grand Slams. Many Hall of Famers have played the sport for India and made a name for themselves.

At the US Open, three Indian players have been successful and managed to win the title. In 1999, Mahesh Bhupathi became the first Indian to win a title at the US Open. The most successful Indian player at the US Open is Leander Paes, who won 5 titles. They inspired the likes of Sania Mirza, Rohan Bopanna, and others to win the titles.

While Bopanna hasn't been able to win the US Open, Mirza scripted history in 2014 when she became the first and only Indian woman to win the US Open. In total, India has won ten US Open titles, all of them in the doubles category. All of them were won by the trio of Paes, Bhupathi, and Mirza, who made India proud.
