The Italian star admitted that he faced a tough battle against the American star when the duo faced off against each other in the Italian Open 2025. Notably, Paul has won the first set comfortably but failed to continue his stellar form heading to the next two sets.
"Winning this one game for me was important, tennis can change quickly. Today I showed every moment is crucial and I'm very happy about that, and to be here in the final. If I want to win on Sunday, I have to play my best tennis. Incredible to be here in the final. That was a straight punch to my face. I just tried to stay there mentally. I stayed there in the first set, and winning this one game was very, very important," Sinner said in a post-match on-court interview.
