Tennis legend Novak Djokovic has recently opened up about his retirement plans and revealed that he can still compete at the epitome of the level. However, the Serbian legend has been thinking about how he wants to end his illustrious career. After getting retired out of his semi-final game against Alexander Zverev in the 2025 Australian Open, Djokovic made it clear that his desire is to compete as strongly as ever. The 24-time Grand Slam winner talked about how his decision to retire will be more influenced by how he wants to conclude his career rather than when he will do so.

Despite being 37 years old and witnessing the retirement of his long-time rivals like Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, and Andy Murray, Djokovic remains extremely competitive and feels capable of beating top players. The Serbian tennis icon expressed that if he starts losing more frequently or finds it increasingly challenging to overcome obstacles in the Grand Slams, that would prompt him to consider retirement.

I am thinking about how I want to end it and when I want to end it. Novak Djokovic

“I’m thinking more about how I want to retire. How? I feel like if I start losing more and I feel like there’s a bigger gap that I start having more trouble getting over those big hurdles at the Grand Slams, then I’ll probably call it a day. If I still feel like I can beat the best players in the world in Grand Slams, why would I want to stop now?. I am thinking about how I want to end it and when I want to end it," Novak Djokovic said.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic has missed winning the Australian Open 2025 after he sustained the muscle tear in the semi-final game. However, the 37-year-old stalwart defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the game.
