Iga Swiatek addressed the tough schedule in WTA, which requires the top players to compete in at least 20 tournaments a year. The 24-year-old wondered how her career would span in the next couple of years, looking at her stiff schedule. Swiatek felt the need to be choosy about the schedule and claimed potentially skipping some mandatory tournaments.
As per WTA's rules, a player is required to play at least six 500-level and ten WTA 1000 tournaments, along with all four Grand Slam events in a year. Swiatek felt it's really hard for a player to give their best in all these tournaments, where there is a need to participate in more than one tournament in a month, along with traveling.

"I don’t know yet how my career is going to look like in a couple of years. Maybe I will have to choose some tournaments and skip them, even though they are mandatory. It’s just impossible to squeeze it in the schedule," Swiatek said, following heavy withdrawls of players from the China Open 2025.
"I think the Asian swing is the hardest part," - Iga Swiatek
The Polish star felt the need to be smart about their decisions to play in a tournament. She felt that the last swing in Asia, especially in Beijing, takes a huge toll on the mental health of the players towards the end of a season.

"I think we have to be smart about it, not really, unfortunately care about the rules and just think what’s healthy for us. I think the Asian swing is the hardest part because you feel like the season is going to finish soon, but you still need to push," Swiatek added.
