Tennis sensation Iga Swiatek has recently opened up about her harsh behavior during the semi-final thriller of the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells 2025. The world number two opened up about her emotional outpouring and further revealed details about her reaction to the clash.
Notably, the 23-year-old tennis star was seen hitting the ball back to the ball boy during her semi-final against 17-year-old tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva and later criticized and booed by the Indian Wells 2025 crowd.
The Polish star eventually suffered the defeat, which ended her hope of defending the title. Her gesture was even criticized by the tennis fraternity after the loss, and the fans showed no sympathy towards her after Swiatek's defeat in the game.

Speaking about the same subject, the five-time Grand Slam winner took to Instagram to address the issue. The pole admitted that this gesture and harsh behavior were due to frustration in the game, and she added that later she went to the ball boy to apologize.
Iga Swiatek clarified that she is not proud of what she has done, and she didn't intend to release her frustration by bouncing the ball. However, the star player added that she did not expect criticism from the tennis fans for such behavior.

"It's true - I expressed frustration in a way I'm not proud of. My intention was never to aim the ball at anyone but merely to release my frustration by bouncing it on the ground. I immediately apologized to the ball boy, we made eye contact, and nodded to each other when I expressed regret that it happened near him. I've seen many players bounce balls in frustration, and frankly, I didn't expect such harsh judgments. Usually, I control such impulses, so half-jokingly I can say I lack experience in this and misjudged my aim in the heat of the moment," Iga Swiatek wrote on Instagram post.
