There was a lot of debate on this topic with a lot of experts, players, and traditionalists joining the debate on if Sinner had to be punished or not. However, the Italian player fought through those issues well and continued to have a phenomenal season even during this tough time of his career. The World number 1 opened up on this matter as well on how difficult it was to handle the situation saying, "I have to thank my team that was close to me the whole time because I needed it. For example, Darren didn't go home to Australia and came to me, he was with me, and my dad came. Thanks to them I felt safe."

It is great to hear Sinner open up on how his loved ones helped him throughout the season and also revealed the motivation he had during this time when he clearly stated, "I have always trained, I have always prepared myself mentally to play tennis well and in the end, it is precisely for this reason that I succeeded. Also because, this is the most important thing, if I had known that it was my fault, in my opinion, I would not have played like that." This statement makes it clear what kept Sinner going throughout the season.
