There are already a lot of stars who are taking part in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 and they have given us some great performances. However there are some players who we are missing in this iconic event, who also could have been favorites to win a medal in this edition as well. The likes of Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka are some of the big names who are not featuring in this tournament at all.

There is also another player who is one of the best players for Spain in Paula Badosa. Though we are seeing her Greek boyfriend Tsitsipas who has made it to the quarter finals of the competition, it is a surprise that the former World number 2 is not playing in the Olympics. Instead the Spaniard is playing the Washington Open where she has made it to the 2nd round of the contest already. There are a lot of fans who are still questioning her on this decision as well.

Paula Badosa answers the question

Before we dive in to this issue we all have to remember that this has not really been a great season for Badosa at all and she has barely made it to any knockouts. She was last seen in Wimbledon where she was knocked out in the 4th round of the contest. Badosa has recently revealed the reason behind her decision to avoid playing the Olympics saying " If I continue to change surfaces I risk having problems and it's not worth it for me, especially given the situation at the beginning of the season. Sometimes all this scares you mentally, I want to avoid these feelings and I think it was a smart decision."

There will still be a lot of people who will make a huge deal out of this situation on Badosa also bringing her personal life in the mix as well, but listening to this statement it seems like a valid reason for her to pull out from this competition. Badosa has also suffered through a back injury and she will also want to take care of her health going forward as well. Overall all we can do is wish her luck for the upcoming hard court season which will be coming up as well and hope she gives us some great performances.
