Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner (Source- 24 News HD and Outlook India)
World number 5 and 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev hopes to get the better of World number 1 and Italian sensation Jannik Sinner. The Russian star wants to get the better of the 2-time Grand Slam winner who has beaten him 7 times in the last 8 encounters this season.
There have been plenty of players who have endured a tough 2024 season and one of them is Russian star and current World number 5 Daniil Medvedev. Medvedev was one of the top players going into the season but has faced a lot of tough matches recently. The Russian might have still kept a 46-21 record but has failed to win a single title this season and could only manage a prize money of over $5 million in 2024.
Medvedev focused on Sinner next season
There is no doubt that the man to beat right now in the ATP scene is Jannik Sinner who has had the best season of his career with 8 titles to his name which include 2 Grand Slam titles as well. Sinner has had the better of Medvedev this season as well beating him 7 times in the last 8 games. Medvedev has also made a statement that he hopes to get the better of the Italian saying " I need to try to find a way to beat Jannik Sinner again, to whom I’ve lost so many times in recent months.”
This is a big goal Medvedev has made considering Sinner will be high on confidence and will want to continue dominating at the top of the rankings. We can also understand Medvedev's sentiments who had boasted of a great record against the Italian until this season which has taken his dominant 6-1 head-to-head record to 7-8 against the Australian Open and US Open champion this season and he will finally want to find a way to come back.
