If there was another name for controversy in the World of Tennis it would be Nicholas Hilmy Kyrgios, who was once one of the biggest competitors in the sport, especially after his 2022 Wimbledon campaign where he made it to the finals. However, right now Kyrgios has not been that active on the court due to injuries but has made it clear that he is planning to make a comeback in the upcoming season.

Kyrgios criticizes Nadal and Murray's retirement

The 2024 season saw some of the biggest legends in the game retire from the game professionally. This year will be known for the retirement of Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal who we have celebrated as legends. However, Kyrgios has gone on to give a statement on their retirement saying, "I look at how Andy Murray's doing it now, and how Rafa Nadal is going out, I don't want to be like that either. I don't want to be kind of crawling to the finish line in a sense.”

Hearing this statement none of us will be surprised if Kyrgios starts getting a lot more hate from the fans once again. Kyrgios has also put forward his plan of leaving the game making the two legends an example once again as he further states, "It's like you've achieved everything. You deserve to go out, I think, a little bit more gracefully than he's done. I think that the surgeries, the pain, it's just not worth it, in my opinion." Though we could appreciate Kyrgios for being open about his plans this statement is in no way going to make him popular with the fans.
