There was a lot of hype for the Geneva Open this season that also saw the likes of Novak Djokovic who was one of the wildcard players in the tournament. After all, he was the world number 1 and was yet to win a title this season. This tournament being an ATP 250 tournament might have not had the top-ranked players, but still gained a lot of audience due to the involvement of these great players.

However, even though everything seemed to go to plan it all ended in the semi-finals against Tomas Machac. The Serbian powerhouse faced a disappointing loss against a lower-seeded player. This was a match where we once again saw Novak Djokovic give an underwhelming performance in what would be his last ATP tournament just before the upcoming Roland Garros which is only a couple of days away.

Djokovic unhappy with his form

After the game, Djokovic was clearly not in the right element during this important game. There is no doubt that there were questions about his form and performance in this match. Speaking on his form the 24-time Grand Slam champion gave a clear statement saying, "Of course I'm worried. I didn't play well at all this year, except for a few matches here and there. Things are what they are. I don't see myself as a favourite in Paris." With this, he has also mentioned that he will be taking one game at a time going into the tournament.

Djokovic's performance also came into question and he chose to answer them as well while reflecting on it stating, "I didn't have a great night, and today it was difficult. I had horrible sensations during the first set of the match. I don't want to take any credit away from Tomas, who deserved his victory, but I don't know what to think of this match. I prefer to forget it”. through this, we can see that Djokovic is not in a clear state of mind going into one of the major tournaments of the season.
