'I did know that my career...'- Former World number 1 Garbine Muguruza opens up about her life after retirement

The moment when you retire from the game, it feels like an end of an era, but for sporting icons and players especially in the game of tennis where the players have to continuously participate in tournaments to stay on top of the rankings and continue their great performances. However, it might be tough to forget these players after retirement, but we are sure that they have a plan for the future going forward in their life.

One of the players who have announced their retirement just recently is Former WTA World number 1 and 2-time Grand Slam winner Garbine Muguruza who has been one of the iconic tennis players in Spain and has had a massive fan following. Muguruza ended her 12 year career and had achieved some great moments in the game which include beating the Williams sisters in Grand Slam finals. She finally announced her retirement at the age of 30 and seems to be having a great time.

Muguruza on life after retirement

Though Muguruza is no longer a part of the WTA scene anymore, it seems like she is enjoying every moment away from the game where she was on the cover of the Muherjoy magazine and is the tournament director for the WTA finals happening in Riyadh. The Spaniard has also opened up on her life after retirement saying, "I would have never said that I would do it at 30, I did know that my career wouldn’t be as long as Serena Williams or Rafa Nadal because of my own approach to sport, which has been very intense."

Apart from this Muguruza will also be in wedding planning mode as she is about to marry her fiance Arthur Borges on October 5 as well. She also opened up on her personal thoughts before retiring stating, "When from the age of three you only think about tennis, tennis, tennis, you don't see beyond that. I even thought that I would lose my identity if I stopped playing.” Without a doubt the Spaniard has proven herself wrong and is still a reknowned figure in the World of tennis.
