The Roland Garros 2024 was perhaps one of the best triumphs for Carlos Alcaraz which he will remember for a long time where he beat the best of the players in the tournament and has been a part of some great matches. The Spaniard has now broken the record of being the youngest player to win a Grand Slam on all three surfaces, winning them at the young age of just 21. This also got him the number 2 rank in the ATP.

Looking at his form in recent times, there are still questions about whether Carlos Alcaraz can finish as the number 1 player at the end of the season. The number 1 position right now belongs to Jannik Sinner, who has also won a Grand Slam this season in Melbourne and has also been in great form. However, there is still a lot left in this season and it will be interesting to see what can happen in the upcoming ATP and Major Grand Slam tournaments.

The possible scenarios

Though there is still a lot of time left in the 2024 season it is likely for Alcaraz to overtake the likes of Jannik Sinner, who is also in great touch this season. Alcaraz is also over 1000 points away from the Italian which is a massive difference considering that Sinner will also look to get some big wins in the tournaments. There are still some big tournaments like the Wimbledon coming up in July. This is also the tournament where Alcaraz will also go in as the defending champion and look for his 4th Grand Slam, however, it will also depend on Sinner's performances as well.

Another thing Alcaraz will also have to do is get some ATP titles in the mix as well, which has eluded him this season as all he could account is for one Indian Wells title. On the other hand, Sinner has two ATP titles to his name as well which also include the Miami Open which is an ATP 1000 title. This has left a lot of work for Alcaraz as he not only has to keep winning big tournaments but also has to rely on Sinner to underperform as well. Overall there is still a possibility of him ending up on top of the rankings, but to get close to Sinner he has to win big and ensure the Italian will struggle on some occasions.
