Tennis star Jannik Sinner is ready to embark on a "new chapter" in his career after getting the world number one spot in the ATP rankings. The star player gained enough points to climb up in the world rankings last week as he advanced to the French Open semifinals at Roland Garros after defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.

The Italian-born star's journey to the Paris semifinals and wins at the Australian Open in January and the Miami Open in March led to his displacing Novak Djokovic to get the top spot. He advanced to the French Open semifinals but suffered a loss in five sets against eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz.

The star player is hunting to solidify his place in further tournaments. In addition, Sinner opened up about his emotions and happiness after getting the top spot in the men's singles rankings. He is looking forward to staying in the top position.

"We go hunting now and see what we can catch. We want to have these good feelings of lifting trophies over and over again, so for us it's just part of the process. I’m obviously very happy about being No. 1, but everyone wants to beat me now. Now a new chapter is starting. Let's see how much I can stay there," Jannik Sinner said on BBC.

Meanwhile, Sinner also talked about his next target of winning Wimbledon to retain the top spot of the game. The 22-year-old star feels that the sport in their country will inspire the youngster after witnessing him reach the semi-finals while Jasmine Paolini reached the finals, where she was toppled by Iga Swiatek.

"Wimbledon is a great chance. It’s obviously the most special tournament we have in our calendar year, so I'm happy to be part of that. In my mind, when I am good physically I can also show good tennis. The tennis in Italy is going in the right direction and I think our goal is always to let this sport grow as much as we can. We can be the idol or the inspiration for young people," he addede further.
