The 2025 Australian Open semifinals were a huge heartbreak for the Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa. The Spaniard was playing against her biggest friend, Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian player was the defending champion and has won the AO Open 2025 for the last two years.

In the first semi-finals, Paula was destroyed by Sabalenka 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets. After defeating her friend, Aryna Sabalenka played in the finals against America's Madison Keys and lost her title. But the semi-final loss to Sabalenka hurt Paula Badosa very badly as she went straight to the training arena and cried.

During the post-match press conference, Aryna was more concerned about rebuilding her friendship with Paula Badosa than winning the Australian Open finals. Sabalenka said that she would do anything to restore her friendship, even buying anything she wanted after the final match.

Aryna said, “Paula, we go shopping and I pay for whatever you want. I hope she’s going to still be here and we go shopping. I’m going to put a limit on her, you know, because she can go crazy.” But Badosa said that she would only forgive Aryna if she gave her an expensive one.

The Spaniard jokingly said, “Something really expensive then. It’s going to be something really expensive because now I think she doubled the prize money. I think she won't have a problem with that. I will think about it.” Even though Sabaelnka lost her finals to Madison Keys, she took a massive 955,000 euros in prize money and an additional 25 million euros. Now the Belarusian kept her promise as she bought Paula an expensive gift.

A video shows Badosa dining with a male companion and opening a package. There she found an expensive friendship bracelet, most probably a platinum one. She was too happy after seeing that and told her Instagram that she forgave her. Aryna also posted on her Instagram and captioned it, “She said she forgave me.” At last, friendship is now restored and the bonding is even stronger.
