Tennis star Jaume Munar seems angered after he lost a five-set thriller against star player Arthur Fils. The Spaniard has crashed out of the tournament after losing against the Frenchman in the second round of Roland Garros. This game was filled with tense moments, with two players trying hard to make it to the third round of the French Open 2025.
The two players forced the first two sets into the tiebreaker, with Fils emerging as the winner. However, the Spaniard came back and won the next two sets, leveling the match and forcing it into a deciding fifth set. However, the Frenchman showcased his form, smacked breathtaking shots to win this game with a scoreline of 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4), 2-6, 0-6, and 6-4, and advanced to the third round in the French Open 2025.
After losing this must-win encounter, Munar has questioned the credibility of Arthur Fils' injury scare in the third set of the game, in which he had to take a medical timeout.
ATP player Munar was seen slamming his opponent for his fake injury. He accepted that players should take the medical time-out when needed, but not fake it. He later expressed his disappointment towards the fans trying to disturb his momentum to help the Frenchman win this game.
"He was attended by the doctor due to an alleged back injury, but I am convinced what he suffered were cramps. In that case, he couldn't have been attended. The break didn’t bother me, but that's the way it is. If you have a real injury, you don't play the fifth set like he did. I find it perfectly fine if they cheer for the other player; I'm very used to that and it doesn't bother me... They engage in a very entertaining show for the audience, but they don't realize that we are doing our job. It's the most annoying and fanatic crowd in the world, the flag weighs too much here," Munar said.
