World number one Iga Swiatek survived a two-hour and fifty-seven-minute thriller against Naomi Osaka in the second round of the French Open 2024, earning a match point to claim a riveting match, 7-6(1), 1-6, 7-5. Notably, it was a remarkable victory, highlighting the most recent turning point in Swiatek's rising prominence in the Paris battle. However, the video went viral after the match, which showed that she cried in the locker room as she left the court, as it was quite an emotional experience for her.

However, following the win over Naomi Osaka, the 23-year-old star went straight to the finish line following that incredible victory. Iga Swiatek went on to easily defeat Anastasia Potapova, 6-0, 6-0, on Court Philippe-Chatrier, achieving her 18th consecutive victory on the Parisian clay. The Polish star, who is now 18-1 on clay in 2024 and 40-4 total for the season, has delivered a magnificent performance in the fourth round of the game.

On the other hand, Potapova was thrilled to have moved to the round of 16 at a major for the first time in her career; however, Swiatek quickly destroyed her momentum. She targeted from the opening ball and didn't let up, restricting the world No. 41 and winning 48 of 58 points to seal the victory in 40 minutes to place herself in the quarterfinals of the game.

It went pretty quickly, I was really focused and in the zone: Iga Swiatek

Meanwhile, the world number one has expressed happiness after winning round 16. The 23-year-old star revealed that she was focused and wasn't looking at the score, which kept her pushing in the game. In addition, the Poland-born star will face Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova next.

"It went pretty quickly. I was really focused and in the zone. I wasn't looking at the score, so I continued working on my game. It doesn't feel like summer in Europe. We'll see what the weather is going to be like. The forecast is not precise," said Swiatek after the great win.
