Tim Henman felt Alexander Zverev needed to do certain things to win his maiden Grand Slam and to be on the same level as Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The former English player observed that the German was already a different player than he once was. Henman felt Zverev has taken his game to a new level in the last few months.
He observed the techinical flaws in Sascha's game. Tim felt Zverev was not comfortable to play along the nets. He felt Zverev was passive in the tiebreakers and on his forehand. He felt playing like that would not help him to win the Grand Slams. "I think he can win a Slam but if he plays like that he won’t," said Tim.
Henman noted that Alexander Zverev has been serving well as usual and has become more aggressive from the back of the court. "He needs to be prepared to take it on. He is just playing brilliantly. His serving is incredible. He is also more aggressive from the back of the court," added Henman.
'He has taken his game to the next level' - Tim Henman
The former England star believed Zverev was an one-dimensional player a few years ago who used to depend mostly on his serves to claim wins. He felt playing from the baseline was the norm for Zverev. "Before, you used to say he was a bit one dimensional – banging down big serves and then just playing from the baseline," Henman added.
He believed Zverev now moves forward and cuts the ball off the angle whenever the situation demands. "But now, when he gets the opportunity to cut off the angle and move forward, he takes it," added Henman.
The former British no.1 felt it might not be long before everyone would see him as a Grand Slam winner. "You would have to say it looks like when and not if he will win a Grand Slam now. He is playing that good and as taken his game to the next level," Henman added.
