The 2024 season for Tennis is still not over and there are still a lot of players who have the chance to make a comeback this season. There might not be any Grand Slams coming up, but there are still some tournaments that could help the players get some big points in the season. Performing at the backend would give them a lot of confidence going forward next year as well.
These tournaments at the backend would benefit the likes of Elina Svitolina, who is among the top Ukrainian stars in tennis. The Former World number 3 has not had the best season where she has not won a title and kept missing out on crucial moments during the big matches. The last time we saw her play was in the US Open where she was eliminated in the 3rd round after facing a 3-set loss against Coco Gauff.
Svitolina undergoes surgery
Apart from being out of form this season, Svitolina was also struggling with some fitness issues, which also includes the foot injury with which she has been struggling for a year. Svitolina recently posted on instagram where she revealed to have had undergone surgery. She released a statement saying, "This is the same issue that ended my season in 2023 and has hampered me for most of 2024. It’s become harder to manage and has been impacting me more and more, not just with regard to tennis and training but in my everyday life too."
This is not all as she has also said that she will be looking to come back next season as well, stating, "I am excited for the opportunity to focus on my recovery and come back even stronger than before." Let us hope we she lives up to these words and has nice and healthy recovery until her comeback for the upcoming season in 2025.
