Kazakhstan moves up the ladder and becomes one step closer to the Finals as they qualify for the United Cup quarter finals. The major credit goes to Elena Rybakina as she played a fabulous set against Maria Sakkari and leading Kazakhstan to the quarter-finals. Rybakina was able to claim a 2-0 lead against the Greek player. In just 90 minutes time Rybakina showed a steller performance by dispensing Maria Sakkari in Women’s singles rubber winning 6-4, 6-3.
To this, the star player replied by saying, “Just play point by point. Because I know 5-0 means there’s nothing to lose for the opponent. She started to play more aggressive and hit some good shots. I just tried to focus on one at a time. I got a bit lucky on match point. Overall, it was a really positive match from me.”
Alexander Shevchenko wins against Stefanos Tsitsipas
Previously, Kazakhstan team was just one step away from reaching the quarter finals as Alexander Shevchenko landed a victory against the World No. 11, Stefanos Tsitsipas. He ran away winning the singles series, bringing the Kazakhstan to 1-0, during the Group C match in Perth.
As per news reports from ATP, Shevchenko after winning the match said, “I think he was not at his best today but still I played really well and I found the moments to win the match. It will definitely go in my record as one of my best wins.”
