The former world number 1 player claimed he would not be there if he did not think he had a chance. Djokovic claimed his record has been bad only against Alcaraz at Wimbledon. From 2018 to the 2023 final, Djokovic remained unbeaten at Wimbledon for a whopping 2194 days before he lost to Alcaraz. In the rematch the following year, the 22-year-old overcame the veteran yet again to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles.

"Grass is really the surface where I play my best tennis" - Novak Djokovic

"I wouldn't be here if I didn't think I had a chance to be honest. I think I always have a chance, I think I earned my right to feel like I can go all the way to the title. I've had, arguably, the most consistent success at any Grand Slam here in Wimbledon in the last decade.

"Last six editions, I've played six finals, so always enjoyed myself playing on this court. Expect when I've played Alcaraz the last couple of years. Other than that, it was great. Look, it's just the beginning of the tournament. There are many fantastic players in the draw.

"I'm going to be playing a Brit next round, that's going to be a tough one. But I look forward to it. I always felt like grass, particularly in the second part of my career, is really the surface where I play my best tennis. So, why not do it again?" asked Djokovic to the host.
