The Japan Open in Tokyo has started with several disastrous results as some of the top-seeded players in the tournament in the form of Taylor Fritz, Hubert Hurkacz, Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Frances Tiafoe faced early defeats and bowed out of the contest. The fans are surprised by the underwhelming performances by these top stars in the game who have given us some brilliant performances.

This tournament was set to be a great opportunity for the players into the Asian tour, especially for Taylor Fritz, who would have been looking forward to continue his incredible performance after being a US Open finalist and was going into the contest being the highest seeded player. Apart from him Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Hubert Hurkacz and Stefanos Tsitsipas were one of the top contenders who were also considered to be one of the favorites in the tournament.

The reason behind the disaster

It was really tough to see some of these top players in the ATP scene bow out, though it was not much of a surprise to see Stefanos Tsitsipas go since he was already having another terrible season and was once again seen losing to a unseeded player in Michelsen.

Even though Tiafoe had started well in this hard court season making it to the Cincinnati finals and having a decent run in the US Open as well but it is safe to say that he hasn't had the most consistent run in the season and has made a lot of errors which was seen in his match against Brandon Nakashim against who he has lost in straight sets. The most surprising defeats were however Fritz and Hurkacz and seeing them fail in their return gamne once again was heartbreaking to seen.

This tournament might have not started in a great way with some of the fan favorites already eliminated from the game, but we still have some top contenders in the form of Holger Rune, Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul, who are looking great in the tournament and we hope they make it all the way.
