Tennis star Madison Keys has made it to her maiden Australian Open final after the 29-year-old stunned the world number two, Iga Swiatek, by 5-7, 6-1, 7-8 (8) in Rod Laver Arena.

Tennis star Madison Keys has made it to her maiden Australian Open final after the 29-year-old stunned the world number two, Iga Swiatek, by 5-7, 6-1, 7-8 (8) in Rod Laver Arena at the end of a tense two hours and 32 minutes of the clash. The USA star saved one match point and made it to her second Grand Slam final of her career. The star player was on the brink of losing the thriller when the Poland star served the game at 6-5 in the third and final. However, the 23-year-old sent a backhand into the net and then was broken by defaulting, sending a game into a tiebreaker.

The star player is now set to face Aryna Sabalenka in the final of the 2025 Australian Open at the Melbourne Park. The 26-year-old Belarusian leads the head-to-head records, where all wins were on the hard court, two of which were at the Grand Slam.

Earlier, Madison took the semifinal spot of the 2025 Australian Open after defeating Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the quarters at Rod Laver Arena. Keys had an awful start to the game as she suffered a crushing defeat in the opening set against the 30-year-old Ukraine star. However, the 29-year-old tennis star showcases some forehand and backhand slice shots in the thriller alongside some brilliant groundstrokes to mark a victory in the second and third sets to book the semifinal spot.

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Keys has talked about her match point, which makes her win the semifinal thriller against the world number two. The seed number 19th was ecstatic after storming into the finals.

“Did she have a match point? I feel like I blacked out. At one point I was just out there running around," Madison Keys after beating Iga Swiatek to reach Australian Open final.
