The All India Tennis Association is currently going through a bad phase after the poor performance in the Davis Cup this season. The Indian team despite having some talented players in the team did not live up to the standards as they suffered a disappointing loss against Sweden. It was at the sixth straight loss against the team. This was undoubetedly a disappointing performance from the team.

The defeat against Sweden has led India now competing to qualify for the World Group for next year's tournament. Even India's Davis Cup captain Rohit Rajpal was seen giving a huge outburst to the media after the loss. This did not result in any positive media at all since this was considered a very unprofessional response to the media from someone who is supposed to be a coach and captain assigned by the All India Tennis Association(AITA).

Rajpal Outburst leads to AITA getting heavy criticism

This media outburst from Rajpal has led to a lot of former players to criticise the AITA for putting Rajpal incharge of the team who did not even have a lot of experience to lead a team and has played only one Davis Cup game. Top Indian players in the form of Yuki Bhambri and Indian number 1 player Sumit Nagal also showed their reluctance of playing under Rajpal who has not had a good rapport with the team at all. It is still tough to think that why Rajpal is still keeping his job as an Indian coach despite showing incompetency and lack of pedigree.

Even expreienced players like Rohan Bopanna and Purava Rajaj have given their opinion and say that Indian tennis needs a massive overhaul and there should be worthy people to train the Indian side. It is clear that Rohit Rajpal has not given the results and maybe it is time for the AITA to make some big decisions if it wants Indian tennis to survive.
