Tennis sensation and world number two Iga Swiatek started her quest for the fourth straight Qatar Open title in Doha with a stunning win over Maria Sakkari in the second round, with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-2. This stunning win marks her 13th straight win in Doha and extends her winning streak at the tournament to 14 matches. The 23-year-old Polish star has also won 25 consecutive sets at the Qatar Open since 2022.
Swiatek had a great start to her game but faced a challenge when Sakkari won three games in a row to take a 3-2 lead in the first set of the game. The 23-year-old star player then refocused in the second encounter, winning the set and dominating the second set to grab a straight-set win over her opponent.

Iga Swiatek aims to win the Qatar Open four times in a row
The star player mentioned tricky conditions in Doha and that she needed to be patient. The former world number one, Iga Swiatek, spoke about the conditions and said that she hasn't played flawlessly in past tournaments there but has always found solutions.
She will be aiming to become the second woman in this century to win the same tournament four times in a row, a feat last achieved by Caroline Wozniacki in New Haven.

"Honestly, hard to say. From what I remember, it’s not like I’ve been playing flawlessly, so it’s not like these tournaments were perfect, but at some point always I found some solutions. I think the conditions here are pretty tricky, and I was patient enough to just keep focusing on my game," said Iga Swiatek after the win.
"Every year it’s different, every year there is a different story, so it’s hard to compare and hard to find one thing that worked exactly," she added later.
