Collins surprises everyone by winning the Miami Open final against Rybakina

It is the final phase of the ongoing Miami Open tennis tournament. The game was between one of the most aggressive players in the WTA right now. It was the final game of the Womens single season where upcoming Kazakhstani talent Elena Rybakina was set to take on American Danielle Collins. This was the final that all of us have been looking forward to. Looking at the players recent form it was Rybakina who was the favourite to win the title compared to Collins currently has a WTA ranking of 53.

 Elena Rybakina came into the finals after defeating former world number 1 Victoria Azarenka in a intense semi final match and was playing her 4th consecutive WTA finals. Collins on the other hand surprised everyone by beating one of the Top 20 tennis players Ekaterina Alexandrova in two straight sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Looking at the previous games of both these players, it was still a contest to look forward to.

The first set saw Collins surprising Rybakina in a very intense first set. Both the players were even at one point, but it was the 30-year-old American who was on top after winning the first set 7-5. This put Collins in the lead in this final game. The second set was equally dramatic. In the end Collins proved victorious and won the second set 6-3. This was one of the most surprising fairy tale endings to Tennis tournament.

Collins might not be in the top 10 right now, but she put up a fight against one of the best players in the world right now. When everyone was backing Rybakina looking at her great performances, Collins exceeded everyone’s expectations. This was still a great final with some gruelling games in the middle. It is another thing about winning against a top contender, but beating her in two straight sets is something none of the fans ever expected. It is a great third title victory for the talented American and she will be happy it has come in the final phase of her career. This is a great ending to the womens single category in the Miami Open.
