Tennis superstar Coco Gauff went on to win the quarterfinals of the Porshe Grand Prix at the Stuttgart Open 2024 on Wednesday as she hammered Sachia Vickery by 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. Notably, the 134-ranked Vickery initially created 19 points, but she was only able to convert just seven of them, which made her lose the game.

Speaking about the match here, Coco Gauff had 15 double faults during the game, but she rallied from 4-2 in her final set before the first match point, which made her win the game. However, she will now face the winner of Zheng Qinwen and Marta Kostyuk.

Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka also advanced in the second-round match after Paula Badosa retired due to the injuries she sustained in her left thigh. Notably, Badosa had the most time out in the second set, but her injuries set her out of the game and allowed Sabalenka to advance further.

However, Coco Gauff was optimistic about the game and expressed her views ahead of her victory.

Your goals should be to try to win the big tournaments: Coco Gauff

The 20-year-old reveals her tactical skills and pragmatic approach ahead of the game. In addition, the young player clarified that she is currently not succeeding at the French Open and that she mainly works to win the ongoing title, which is her main target.

“For the clay season this year, I’m really optimistic. Obviously, the goal is to win the French Open, but that’s every season for any top player. Your goals should be to try to win the big tournaments. But I’m not looking at the French Open right now. I’m focused on Stuttgart. I want to try to win Madrid or Rome or here ... I just want to get a recent clay title under my belt. So many of the ones along the next couple of weeks would be nice. It’s nice to have someone on my team that knows me since I was young and knows me well," Coco Gauff said ahead of the game.
