The Norway-born star made it to the second round of the French Open, defeating Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. Thereafter, Ruud recalled the challenges he faced at Roland Garros back in 2024. He crashed out of the tournament after losing to Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, but he later suffered from a gastrointestinal illness that lasted for over two weeks.

Casper Ruud opens up on financial struggles

Speaking about the same subject, Casper Ruud has recalled how it is quite easy to have a disease due to their hectic schedules and changes in their food as well. The star player has further shed light on how this challenge persists for him, as he wasn't financially well enough to afford his private chef during his ATP tours.

The tennis revealed that it was quite hard for him to have his kitchen prepare fresh food every time. The former world number two stated that renting everything for him was a big financial commitment.

“That’s an investment that I’ve thought about in the past, but it’s practically quite hard because you would need a place with a kitchen to have fresh food all the time. It’s not easy at all. Hotels are more practical for us because if you lose, you can just check out and leave. If you’re renting a private place, you need to rent it for the whole stay... It’s a pretty big commitment financially to do that. I haven’t found the budget for it and the need for it,” Casper Ruud said.
