The Barcelona Open is finally over and it has really been a riveting ATP tournament to witness. The two finalists were finally decided and we could not expect it to be any less of a contest. This tournament has been full of surprises throughout and the fans were ready for a final to remember in this current season. This is one of the classics of the clay season that should be remembered for a long time.

The game was between the two Monte Carlo finalists themselves who were on a roll this clay season.  Not only do these two individuals have an epic head-to-head rivalry so far, but are also looking for their first victory in an ATP 500 tournament. Casper Ruud was looking to comeback against the Greek god after losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas in the finals of the Monte Carlo masters. Tsitsipas on the other hand was looking to make his Barcelona Open dream come true as well. Overall it was a contest that had already created a lot of hype.

Casper Ruud finally breaks ATP jinx

Though Tsitsipas was always the favourite to win on clay we cannot leave out the efforts of Ruud who has still managed to come out on top in all his games with his amazing accuracy and flawless groundstrokes. That was what went exactly down in the first set as Ruud managed to come out on top after breaking Tsitsipas’s serve, winning 7 games to 5. The second set saw Ruud completely dominating Tsitsipas and breaking his jinx of failing to win outside the ATP 250.

The Barcelona Open finally has a new champion in Casper Ruud who has finally got his redemption over Tsitsipas and has got the jinx completely out of the way. It was a completely dominant performance by the Norwegian who had just beaten one of the best players on clay as well. This is perhaps one of the biggest wins of Ruud’s career and it is a win that has put him as one of the top players in the current season right now. We hope to see more brilliant performances from the Ice Man who we all will be looking forward to seeing in the upcoming tournaments as well.
