Carlos Alcaraz suffers a disappointing loss against Casper Ruud in his opening game of the ATP Finals 2024 in Turin. The Norwegian got the better of the young Spanish Star beating him in straight sets with scores of 6-1 and 7-5. A  terrible start to the tournament for the 4-time Grand Slam winner.

There are plenty of top players in the ATP Finals in Turin, but the player who was one of the favorites was Carlos Alcaraz who was searching for his maiden ATP Finals title. The Spaniard has had a great season as well where he has won 4 titles which also include two Grand Slams in Paris and Wimbledon. There is no doubt that there are a lot of fans who will be backing him to win as well.

Carlos Alcaraz suffers disappointing loss

Even though we know that Casper Ruud is not a player to be underestimated, Alcaraz was still considered a favorite to win the match looking at his form this season. However, things did not go to plan and the Spaniard might have suffered one of the most disappointing defeats of his career as the Ice Man went on to beat him by scores of 6-1 and 7-5. This was not the way Alcaraz would have wanted to start the tournament with a one-sided loss being one of the highest-seeded players.

This was perhaps one of the most surprising results early on in the tournament and it is safe to say that Alcaraz would have to come stronger in the next two matches where he will be facing the likes of Alexander Zverev and Andrey Rublev. The Carlitos fans will be hoping to see Carlos win the matches in great fashion to give himself a chance in the semi-finals and keep his ATP Finals hopes alive this year. It might have not been the start he would have wanted, but his tournament is not over yet.
