It is always great to see the top players in the Grand Slam tournaments who keep giving us some great performances down the line. The Roland Garros is one such tournament that has been giving us those big matches going forward. This is what makes these tournaments one of the most prestigious and toughest tournaments ever to be played in Tennis.

One of the top players who were featured today was World number 3 and 2-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz who was facing a young Dutch player in Jesper de Jong in the 2nd round game of the tournament. Alcaraz was no doubt the favorite in this matchup considering his flawless record on clay, which makes him one of the favorites to win this tournament. The young Spaniard in his previous game had also proved why he was one of the toughest contenders for the title.

Carlos manages victory despite 3rd set surprise

The game already started in Alcaraz's favour winning the first two sets convincingly by scores of 6-3 and 6-4. These two sets kept the Spaniard in control of the game already and another straight-set thrashing was on the cards. However, there was a massive surprise faced by Alcaraz in the third which was dominated by De Jong winning 6 games to 2. However, the Spaniard came back really well in the fourth set beating De Jong by a score of 6-2.

There was a bit of a shock in this game as we saw Alcaraz lose a set to an unseeded player, but he still managed to get the big win despite all the struggle. He was still the better player on the day despite facing a shocking 3rd set loss. All we know is that Carlos Alcaraz's French Open dream is still alive and we are glad to see him still in the mix. It will also be interesting to see what the 21-year-old top-ranked player will have for us going into the last two rounds before the playoffs.
