Star player Polina Kudermetova is all set to face Anhelina Kalinina in the first semifinal thriller while Aryna Sabalenka sets the stage against Mirra Andreeva for another semifinal, slated to take place on January 4. The star players aim to win this forthcoming clash to book their berth in the final showdown of the showpiece event.

Meanwhile, Aryna Sabalenka has kicked off her 2025 campaign at the Brisbane International, an ATP-WTA tournament that began on Sunday ahead of the 2025 Australian Open, slated to take place from January 12 in Melbourne. The Belarus-born star has won her second Melbourne title in 2024, thwarting Qinwen Zheng of China in the final thriller. The 26-year-old tennis star is hoping to become the first woman to win three straight Australian Opens since 1999.

At the 2024 Brisbane International, Sabalenka made it to the final thriller but lost to world number six Elena Rybakina in straight sets. Looking to improve upon this as compared to last year, the 26-year-old said that she felt fresh and ready to go this time. Notably, during her off-season, Sabalenka spent her time at her home in Florida before making her way to the Middle East for the pre-training season.

Despite her world number-one status and winning three of the last four hard-court Grand Slam titles, Aryna Sabaalenka feels that she still has plenty to work on in her training.
