Tennis star Grigor Dimitrov is set to make his appearance in the sixth Brisbane International 2025 semi-final thriller after Jordan Thompson's mid-match retirement for a right lower leg injury on January 3. The defending champion had snared an early break in the game and was seen in the commanding spot before Thompson twice had a great treatment on his right calf muscle during the crucial encounter.
Notably, there are no Aussies (home team players) left in either of the singles draws at the Brisbane International after Jordan Thompson was forced to withdraw from the quarters due to injury.
The 33-year-old tennis legend was seen having a split in his two prior meetings with world number 29, featuring a straight sets win in the semi-final of the Brisbane International on his way to a first career trophy in the last seven years of the game.

The 33-year-old tennis star also spoke about Thompson, who got injured during the game. Dmitrov also talked about his serving point in the game, which has helped him pick up his pace after his first set in the game.

“I was just trying to focus on my game. Honestly, it's very, very unfortunate for him. I hope he’s ready for the Aussie Open. Not much to say; I just came out here to compete, to go through my motions on the court, and yeah, I think from the beginning I was in very good control of the match. I thought I was moving very well; serve was on point. All these things are giving me a lot of confidence. After that first break in the first set, I slowly started to pick my pace a little bit more. That’s the end result, unfortunately,” Grigor Dimitrov said.
