Tennis legend Andy Murray has recently opened up about his journey ahead of the French Open 2024. The 37-year-old legend was supposed to miss the French Open earlier, owing to a ligament tear during the third set of his third-round defeat against Tomas Machac in the recently concluded Mutua Madrid Open 2024. Following the same, he had missed the Italian Open 2024.

Meanwhile, the British star is set to face Stan Wawrinka in the opening round of the French Open 2024. He admitted that he was initially expecting to miss the event, but his rehab had helped him make his comeback. Notably, the former World Number One is set to play the Roland-Garros for the second time only since 2017.

The star player is extremely ecstatic to mark his successful comeback in the upcoming marquee event and revealed that his ankle is perfect now, which is a huge bonus for the side.

"Initially, I was expecting to miss the French and not play any clay at all. So to be here and feeling pretty healthy, and the ankle being good, is a huge bonus. I was surprised with that because I could quite easily have felt sorry for myself, taken a break and not done the rehab as well as I did. I worked really hard to get back, and that’s one of the reasons why I was able to come back a bit sooner than I anticipated," he said.

The Brit further said that he was surprised by his great comeback, as the rehab process had helped him mark his great comeback. In addition, the 37-year-old revealed that he worked hard every single day with his team and physio without having many breaks or holidays.

"I’m proud of that. It would have been easy to have looked at it a different way. I was surprised how I was during the rehab - I felt really, really motivated. I worked extremely hard every single day with my team and physio, there were no breaks or holidays to feel sorry for myself. I just did the work," he added.
