The clay season in Tennis has already begun and the hype for the upcoming Monte Carlo masters is on a high. This will be the 117th edition of the tournament leading up to the iconic grand slam known as the French Open. This is one of the toughest tournaments in the clay season which will feature some world-class players in the mix. The last season saw Russian Andrey Rublev win his 15th career title by defeating Holger Rune in an intense final. the tournament will begin on the 6th of April with qualifiers with the first round starting on the 8th of April.

There will be some great players who will be featuring in this tournament to start their clay season. The new top-ranked players Jannick Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev will be playing this season and have been in the best of form. The addition of Grigor Dimitrov, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will make the competition even tougher. There are also some unfortunate replacements which include Tommy Paul withdrawing and being replaced by Marcos Giron.

The fate of the legends

The next few players who were set to play this season were Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic. There was a lot of speculation regarding their participation. However, it looks certain that Djokovic will make a return to this tournament and will want to come back after two disappointing tournaments where he lost the semi-finals of the Australian Open and exited the Indian Wells in the 3rd round.

Andy Murray who is a 3-time Grand Slam winner himself was also set to make a comeback in the clay season. Unfortunately for him, he had to withdraw from the tournament due to an ankle injury in the Miami Open. This is another unfortunate issue for the former world number 1 which no one ever expected. The team has also given the news that he might miss the entire clay season as well.

Rafael Nadal was the man everyone was waiting to see knowing how dominant he is on clay and his great record in this tournament. The Spaniard’s chances of playing look slightly slim since there are a lot of injury issues he has been having right now. However, we cannot count him out since he is still on the starting list and the fans will be waiting for El Nino to finally bring the thunder.

This is the most awaited moment in tennis history that the fans are eager to see. Just like the Miami Open, there will be a lot of support for these talented players. There might be some withdrawals that will cause a bit of heartbreak, but we are still in for a great tournament with some great matches. Knowing that the top 4 players will be featured in this tournament, it is safe to say that we are in for a roller coaster ride with the beginning of the clay season.
