The Clay season is in its last legs in the year 2024 and we have had some great tournaments full of surprising results so far. The last ATP Masters 1000 is about to come to an end. There is still room for one more tournament which might not be a big tournament of the season, but will have some hype with some world-class players in the mix. This will most likely be one of the most viral ATP 250 tournaments which we have ever witnessed in the season.
With some world-class players in the mix, there is a chance for some of these popular players to win another ATP tournament just before the Roland Garros 2024. This tournament might not hold much major leverage unlike the ATP 1000 tournaments, but will still be a tournament to look forward to with some big stars in the mix. Hence, we will be looking at who will be the major players who will be the favourites to win the tournament.
Here are the favourites to win the Geneva Open this season:
5. Taylor Fritz

The number one leading American tennis player has already been one of the most iconic players to look forward to this season as well. Taylor Fritz is still the number 1 American player who has made it to several knockouts in this ATP tour. Even though we can all see the potential in the 26-year-old he has only won a solitary title so far in the Delray Beach Open. This will be an opportunity for him to win another major ATP title going into his last ATP tournament just before the Roland Garros.
4. Ben Shelton

It is now time to go from one American sensation to another. The young Ben Shelton has already given us some great performances and is still early in his career. He also gave some competition to Fritz after overtaking him for a while as the number 1 American tennis player. The ATP Houston title was the boost the 21-year-old needed this season. he will also want to prove himself after having a slightly underwhelming performance in the Italian Open. It will be interesting to see if he comes back to his best in the upcoming tournament in Geneva.
3. Andy Murray

It came as a surprise after Andy Murray was named as a wild card entry into the Geneva Open. The former world number 1 from the UK was suffering through an injury which we thought would keep him out of the game for a long time. However, this is the moment for the 3-time grand slam winner to announce himself this season. Murray might not be one of the higher-seeded players since it has not been a season to remember for him, but he will know that he will want to go hard in what is probably the last ATP tournament of his career and have one title this season.
2. Casper Ruud

Norwegian Casper Ruud has finally announced himself this season with some great performances. He has already performed above expectations and he has made it to many playoffs in this ATP tour. The clay season also saw him win his first-ever ATP 500 tournament in Barcelona. However the last two tournaments have not been the best for the Iceman, but this is a tournament where he has enjoyed playing and has already won two back-to-back titles. He will be looking for his third Geneva Open trophy and 2nd ATP title this season.
1. Novak Djokovic

If you thought that Murray was a surprising draw, there was still another surprise waiting in the corridors as Novak Djokovic became a wild card entry as well. The world number 1 and third member of the holy trinity will be the highest-seeded player in the tournament as well. Even though he still holds that number 1 rank, it has still not been an great season for the 24-time grand slam champion in this ATP tour. Djokovic is yet to win a title this season and this is a chance for him to get some game time and win something just before the Roland Garros. The fans will also want the Serbian to finally win a trophy this season as well
