On December 7, the Minneapolis Armory in Minneapolis, Minnesota, hosted WWE's NXT Deadline event. There were two Iron Survivor Challenge bouts that evening, and the men's competition was a huge success. Wes Lee vs. Je'Von Evans vs. Nathan Frazer vs. Ethan Page vs. Eddy Thorpe was the pairing for this year's Men's Iron Survivor Challenge.
Oba Femi stunned the NXT community on Saturday by showing up as the last competitor in the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge on NXT Deadline. This came shortly after a story that explained his previous disappearance. Then Oba Femi showed up at NXT Deadline. After he was attacked backstage, Eddy Thorpe was declared unable to compete, and he was replaced by him. In the end, Femi won triumph. The next top challenger for the NXT Championship, he defeated Wes Lee, Nathan Frazer, Je'Von Evans, and Ethan Page. NXT: New Year's Evil is where Femi will compete for the gold.
Iron Survivor Challenge is distinguished by its special regulations
The contest began with Je'Von Evans and Wes Lee drawing the first two sports. They battled until Evans was relegated to the punishment box after Wes Less scored a pinfall while maintaining his foot on the ropes. Nathan Frazer then entered the contest at position three. Nathan Frazer quickly got a roll-up pin on All Ego after Ethan Page, who had entered fourth place, immediately began laying everyone down.
The Iron Survivor Challenge is distinguished by its special regulations. Two Superstars begin the bout, and until all five are in the ring, a new competitor enters the ring every five minutes. At any time throughout the game, pinfalls, submissions, or disqualifications are used to gain points. One point is awarded for each fall, however, wrestlers who are DQed, pinned, or submitted have to spend 90 seconds in the punishment box. The winner has a strong incentive to win since they will also have an NXT Title bout later on.
