Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler delivered a fight for the ages in their intense lightweight showdown. The bout filled with dramatic shifts and relentless action, saw Oliveira emerge victorious via unanimous decision after five gruelling rounds.

The opening round set the tone, with Oliveira displaying lightning-fast reflexes. A front kick opened his attack, and although Chandler landed early strikes, the Brazilian took control by tripping Chandler and manoeuvring into a dominant position on the ground. Oliveira worked tirelessly to secure a submission, keeping Chandler on the defensive. Chandler fought back bravely but ended the round visibly drained, giving Oliveira an early edge.

The second round showcased Oliveira’s grappling mastery. With Chandler pinned, Oliveira unleashed devastating elbows, causing significant damage and leaving Chandler bloodied. Though Chandler attempted to scramble out of danger, Oliveira's relentless pressure and calculated ground game further extended his dominance.

By the fourth round, Chandler’s resilience was evident, but so was his exhaustion. He unleashed a flurry of strikes, but Oliveira remained composed, skillfully avoiding significant damage and capitalizing on every opportunity. A precise uppercut and knee left Chandler reeling, and Oliveira seized control again with a takedown, landing punishing elbows that left Chandler battered.

Chandler calls out McGregor after losing to Oliveira!

As the fight entered the fifth round, Chandler needed a miracle to turn the tide. A massive overhand right from the American momentarily rocked Oliveira, raising the tension in the arena. Chandler pressed his advantage, raining down elbows and coming tantalizingly close to finishing the fight. However, Oliveira showcased his indomitable spirit, surviving the onslaught and regaining composure.

In the closing moments, Oliveira secured another takedown, asserting his dominance once more. Despite Chandler's valiant attempts, including a desperate slam with Oliveira on his back, time ran out. The judges scored the fight unanimously in Oliveira’s favour, highlighting his technical brilliance and resilience against Chandler’s relentless aggression.

After the fight, Chandler gave an interview and said, “I was supposed to show up tonight and do my job and win the fight. Maybe I fight Max Holloway next for the BMF belt. Or maybe I fight Conor McGregor if he ever gets his house in order.” Notably, this was Chandler’s 3rd open challenge to McGregor since his return and he is yet to respond.
