Mariyappan Thangavelu does it again; grabs another glorious Paralympics medal in men's high jump T63

In the ongoing Paralympics 2024, India's journey became eventful as Mariyappan Thangavelu has won another Bronze medal in the Men's High Jump T63.

In the ongoing Paralympics 2024, India's journey became eventful as Mariyappan Thangavelu won another Paralympics medal. He had the Bronze medal win in the Men's High Jump T63. Thangavelu is an incredible athlete who secured medals in all three Paralympics, Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020, and Paris 2024. He's having an amazing outing in the tournament making the country proud. 

Sharad Kumar won silver in the same sport, doubling the players' happiness and excitement. Both the athletes were mindblowing during the game and went up to the podium together to collect their medals. Now India has 20 medals in the Paralympics, including Deepthi Jeevanji's earlier bronze and the two javelin medals of Ajeet Singh and Sundar Gurjar (silver and bronze, respectively). 

After the defending champion and paralympic record holder, Sam Grewe was knocked out from the first round, the field was open for the other players, and the Indians didn't let the opportunity slide away. The confidence with which each athlete took the field was unimaginable.

India's Paralympics 2024 medal tally rises to 20

It was another remarkable day for the Indian athletes as they went on to win two medals in the ongoing Paralympics 2024. Now, India's medal tally has gone up to 20, with several other wonderful wins by the star athletes. India is in the 19th position, with three Gold, seven Silver, and 10 Bronze medals. 

The most recent medals came from Sharad Kumar and Mariyappan Thangavelu, who bagged Silver and Bronze medals in the Men's High Jump T63, respectively. India's Gold medal winners are Avani Lekhara in Women's 10m air rifle standing SH1, Nitesh Kumar in Men’s singles SL3 Badminton, and Sumit in Men's Javelin Throw- F64.
