In a momentous event for Indian sports, ace shooter Manu Bhaker made history by becoming the first Indian to win two medals at the same Olympics. Her father, Ramkrishna Bhaker, shared his heartfelt emotions following her remarkable achievement as he credits Prime Minister Narendra Modi for her success. 

Manu, along with her partner Sarabjot Singh, clinched bronze in the 10M Air Pistol Mixed team event, adding to her earlier bronze in the women's individual 10M Air Pistol event. This feat not only brought immense pride to her family but also resonated deeply with the entire nation.

While speaking to the media Ramkrishna said, "When PM Modi talks to a child, they get an 80% energy boost. You can see that after he talked to Manu, she won again the medal."

Expressing his delight, Ramkrishna Bhaker conveyed his gratitude to the Indian public for their unwavering support and love for Manu. "I am thrilled. This is big news for the whole country. I thank the countrymen for giving their love and blessings to Manu and also helping her in tough times," he stated in an interview with ANI.

Sarabjot Singh’s father echoes sentiments

The sentiment of pride and joy was echoed by Jitender Singh, father of Sarabjot Singh, who teamed up with Manu for the mixed team event. Reflecting on the duo's performance, Jitender Singh shared, "...Manu Bhaker and my son have won Bronze—heartiest congratulations to Manu Bhaker and her family. We are delighted...First, I will visit the Gurudwara and pay obeisance...There will be celebrations in our village..."

The duo's victory over South Korea's Lee Wonho and Oh Ye Jin, with a score of 16-10 in the Bronze Medal play-off match, was a testament to their consistent performance and composure under pressure. Both Bhaker and Sarabjot demonstrated their skill and determination by consistently shooting regular 10s throughout the series, securing India's second medal at the Paris Olympics.

Manu Bhaker's historic double medal win marks a significant milestone in Indian sports history. It not only showcases her exceptional talent and hard work but also reflects the growing prowess of Indian athletes on the global stage. Notably, she can win another medal as she will participate in the 25m Air Pistol event.
