On 10 August Indian men’s hockey team received a grand welcome as they returned to India after winning the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024. Indian team won against Spain in the bronze medal match as they secured the third spot in the play-off match.
For the first time since 1972, the Indian men’s hockey team has won two medals in a row in the Olympics event. The hockey team was led by Harmanpreet Singh. India last won two bronze medals in the 1968 Olympics which was held in Mexico City and the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
As the team reached Delhi in the morning they were welcomed by flowers and tri-colour stoles. As the Hockey team arrived outside the airport dhols were playing to welcome the team and there were also many media, and fans to meet the stars for their achievement. Mandeep Singh and Sukhjeet were dancing on dhol music and fans were supporting them.

Not all members of the team returned to India as the PR Sreejesh is in Paris as he was selected as the joint flagbearer in the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics 2024. He will be returning to his home country after the closing event taking place. PR Sreejesh announced that this was his last Olympics with India. During the match against Spain, he played a key role.
Air India gives tribute to Indian hockey men's team
Meanwhile, Air India also paid special tribute to Hockey India as the team was travelling with Air India. While the players and families who were travelling with the team inside the flight as the pilot announced the passengers gave them a big applause.
Now the player will head towards Major Dhyanchand stadium and will have a meet and greet event with media and fans in personnel. Meanwhile, the men’s hockey team has won their 13th medal in the Olympic games as they have eight gold medals and one silver medal.
