India won consecutive medals at Olympics Games after 52 years

After 52 years, India finally won consecutive medals at Olympics Games. The last time India won consecutive medals in the Olympics was in 1972. India is the most successful Olympic team, having won 14 medals in its 96-year existence, including eight gold, one silver, and four bronze.

Returning to the action, the two teams played a scoreless first quarter before Marc Miralles gave Spain the lead in the 18th minute. However, India captain Harmanpreet Singh tied the game in the 30th minute. Harmanpreet helped the team seize the lead in the third quarter by hitting another goal in the 33rd minute.

From there, India did not allow Spain to make a comeback, winning the game 2-1 by the final whistle. Meanwhile, in addition to PM Modi, numerous more Indian sporting giants welcomed the country's historic success.  In addition to being India's 13th overall and fourth in Olympic hockey, this bronze medal is particularly meaningful since it marks PR Sreejesh's final farewell. The seasoned goalie, who has proudly represented Indian hockey for more than 20 years, concluded his remarkable career with a play that will live on in the memory for years to come.
