'I admire Dhoni for the person that he is' - India's latest Bronze medalist at Paris Olympics 2024 Swapnil Kusale draws inspiration from MS Dhoni's journey

Swapnil Kusale draws inspiration from the journey of MS Dhoni. The latest bronze medalist in the Paris Olympics 2024 has been a ticket collector, similar to the former Indian cricket captain. Kusale won the Bronze medal in the Men's 50m Air Rifle 3 Positions event after qualifying for the final in the 7th position.

Swapnil had spoken to the media ahead of his Paris Olympics 2024 campaign. Before his maiden Olympics, the 29-year-old was asked about his inspiration in the Sports. Swapnil said that he does not follow any other Sports outside of Shooting. However, the shooter added that he admires Dhoni for the person he is.

"I don't follow anyone specific in the shooting world. Outside of that, I admire Dhoni for the person that he is," said Swapnil in an interview. The star shooter has been working in the Indian Railways since 2015. Before becoming the Indian cricketer, Mahendra was a ticket collector. From there, he ended up becoming the legend he is today.

Swapnil added that Shooting needed one to be patient and calm and referred to similar qualities of MS Dhoni. Kusale added that he could relate to the story of Dhoni who was a ticket collector like him. "My sport requires me to be as calm and patient as he is on the field. I also relate to his story as I am a ticket collector like he was," added Swapnil Kusale in the interview.

Kusale helped India to claim its third medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. It is worth noting that all three medals for India have come from the Shooting department. Manu Bhaker won two Bronze medals from different categories. A lot of athletes have qualified closer to getting medals. However, only Shooting has fetched medals for India so far.
