The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans are eagerly waiting for the day to get confirmed news about MS Dhoni's future with the franchise. Before the IPL 2024 season, MS Dhoni stepped down from captaincy, passing on the baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who did pretty well in the season. Even though CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs, they remained in the fifth position.

As per reports, MS Dhoni's future plans depend on the BCCI's retention policy, which will be discussed in the upcoming days. If the management will settle with 5-6 retentions per team, then MS Dhoni will be retained by CSK for the upcoming three years. IPL CEO Hemang Amin called for a meeting with the IPL franchise owners on July 31 to discuss the retention policy and many other things for the future.

"Amin is understood to have also indicated that the meeting would occur in the late afternoon or evening on July 31. It is believed that all the owners have confirmed their availability for the meeting. While the exact venue has not been confirmed, the congregation is expected to take place at the Cricket Centre, the BCCI headquarters, located within the Wankhede Stadium complex in Mumbai," said a report.

CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad dropped from India's T20I squad

After scoring 133 runs in 3 innings with an average of 66.50 in the Zimbabwe series, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dropped from India's T20I squad in the ongoing Sri Lanka series. The management or the selectors haven't found any solid reason behind this decision.

They have dropped Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in the Zimbabwe series, along with Gaikwad. Moreover, selectors have made Shubman Gill the vice-captain of white-ball cricket and Suryakumar Yadav the captain of the T20I team instead of Hardik Pandya. Some bold decisions are taken by the BCCI, whose results will be seen in the future.
