Enzo Zidane has made the decision to leave the professional football ranks, according to "AS." At the age of 29, the oldest son of legendary Zinedine Zidane, alongside whom he appeared in his Real Madrid debut, is stepping down from the team. His final encounter came with Fuenlabrada, and he had already played an entire year as a free agent.
The Zidane family's eldest son is turning in his boots. After an unsuccessful playing career during which he had never been able to stake himself in the highest division, 29-year-old Enzo is quitting football. The former midfielder, who had been out of work for a season, reportedly made the decision to quit due to his inability to integrate into the football world.
The footballer, who was born in Bordeaux, had his final stop in 1995 at Fuenlabrada, where his father had been a famous player. Though his season progressed from bad to worse, oddly, the Madrid squad was among the ones that offered him the most possibilities and his performance did not leave an awful balance.
Enzo joined Real Madrid's junior system because, like all his siblings, he aspired to play in Zinedine's shoes. He made an impact in Real Madrid C's youth division and the youth levels before joining the 'Merengues' reserve squad, where he played for two seasons. During a Copa del Rey encounter inside the Santiago Bernabeu in November 2016, he scored and had the chance to don the first team shirt thanks to his father.
Enzo Zidane’s journey in football
That incident, though, was not investigated further and remained anecdotal. After spending 13 years within the youth ranks, the club encouraged him to hunt for a team, and he ended himself at Alaves, who are playing Real Madrid on Tuesday. He was only able to play four games there before moving to Lausanne Sports in Switzerland for the winter.
Following that, he went back to Spain and had an incredible season in the second division with Rayo Majadahonda, despite not being able to stave off relegation. The playmaker's journey became increasingly difficult after that. Before missing eight months of action in 2019–20, he played for Desportivo Aves in Portugal for half of the season and Almeria for the other half.
