William Gallas expressed that only top clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona would be able to attract Cole Palmer away from Chelsea. He also suggested that Chelsea should consider avoiding a recruitment move for Mohamed Salah. Palmer has been in remarkable form this season, contributing to Chelsea's resurgence in the Premier League and helping the team return to a more competitive standing at Stamford Bridge.
William Gallas take on 'Cold' Palmer's possible destination
Palmer, who made the switch to Chelsea from City last year, has drastically improved and has become an essential player for the Three Lions as well. Gallas, a two-time top-flight champion with the club, believes that only the allure of two Spanish giants could convince the attacking midfielder to consider leaving at this stage.
"At the moment, only Real Madrid and Barcelona could tempt Cole Palmer away from Chelsea, and I think he would thrive playing his football in Spain," he told Prime Casino.
"That could be three seasons in the future, but I think Chelsea fans should hope that neither of those clubs come in for him any time soon," he added.
Gallas firmly asserts that the club must avoid pursuing Reds winger Salah, who had a tenure with the Blues from 2014 to 2016.
With the Egypt international’s contract set to expire at Anfield at the end of this season, there’s considerable speculation surrounding his future, and he has been linked with numerous potential suitors.
"I think Chelsea should reject the chance to sign Mohamed Salah as a free agent this summer; I think he would be a disruption on the squad." Gallas added.
"Chelsea are all learning and growing together, and it’s working for Enzo Maresca. They are all part of a generation with no big egos, despite Cole Palmer being the focal point." Gallas said.
