Manchester United to pay half the amount of runner-up prize to Chelsea 

The Red Devils have earned around £21.6m from UEL exploits this season. Manchester United's loss in the UEL finals closed their doors to the Champions League for the next season. Manchester United are set to lose around £80 million for not making it to Europe's top football competition. Manchester United received £5 million in prize money for finishing second in the Europa League. However, they will pay Chelsea FC £3.5 million as part of the agreement to acquire Mason Mount, who played a major role in the club's exploits. The agreement included a clause requiring the Red Devils to pay an extra sum to Chelsea should the player play in the European finals. Since the player was part of the squad in the UEL finals for Manchester United, the Blues will receive the amount.

Mason Mount represented the Red Devils in 9 matches at the UEFA Europa League. The experienced left-back has scored two goals in the competition and greatly contributed to the team's defensive duties. The experienced attacking midfielder transferred to Manchester United in 2023. He has represented Manchester United in 30 matches across club competitions.
