Since Ruben Amorim is keen to strengthen the midfield this summer, Paul Pogba's chances of returning to Manchester United have been discussed. When his six-year contract with Manchester United expired in 2022, Paul Pogba left the team, capping a second stint that fell short of expectations. In 2016, United paid a then-record 89 million euros to acquire him from Juventus, making him the most expensive player in history.

Under Jose Mourinho, the French midfielder had a strong start and was instrumental in United's victories in the League Cup and the Europa League. But tension off the field and inconsistency on the field resulted from his relationship with Mourinho deteriorating. Pogba momentarily found his form again under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, displaying his indisputable skill. However, recurring injuries in the later years of his United career reduced his impact and exacerbated criticism of his play.

Despite moments of genius, criticism frequently overshadowed Pogba's tenure at Old Trafford. Because of his high cost, he was frequently criticized, and discussions about his dedication and reliability continued during his visit. Pogba returned to Juventus in 2022, but his career took a further turn for the worse when he was banned from doping for four years for using illegal substances. Last month, the suspension was lowered to 18 months, though. After Juventus ended his contract, Pogba became a free agent and is now looking for a new team in an attempt to restart his career.

Ruben Amorim's team lacks a creative mindset

Since Ruben Amorim's team lacks a creative mindset, Pogba's name has been brought up frequently in the previous six weeks about United as he looks for a new club. According to the reports, however, Pogba's representatives still have a "good relationship" with Jason Wilcox, the technical director of United, who has been actively involved in the team's recent additions.

Manchester United will undoubtedly need to add midfield depth during the summer transfer window, even if Pogba is completely out of the question. Following his near-complete exclusion from Amorim's starting lineups over the past month, Casemiro is anticipated to depart the club, while Christian Eriksen will depart United when his contract expires in June.
