After 32 years of Premier League competition, Cole Palmer, a playmaker for Chelsea, became the first player to score four goals in the first half of a game. At Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea led 4-2 at the break thanks to a flurry of goals from the England international in 20 minutes against Brighton.

In minutes 21, 28, 31, and 41, Palmer scored a goal. According to Opta, which supplies data to the Premier League, no player has ever scored that many goals before halftime in a single match. After the formidable Jadon Sancho was taken down, Palmer scored Chelsea's tenth successive penalty goal. He then completed a hat-trick in ten minutes with a spectacular 25-yard free kick that found the top corner. Just after Carlos Baleba had pounced on Sanchez's shoddy ball out to offer Brighton hope, Palmer scored his fourth goal with a curling shot off an assist from Sancho.

Meanwhile, his teammate Noni Madueke as called him greedy on his Instagram story because he scored four goals during the game against Brighton. While after the post-match press conference Cole Palmer  said, “I should have had five or six,” “When I missed my first chance I was upset but with the way they played and their high line, I felt we’d get more chances.”

Cole Palmer having brilliant campaign for Chelsea

In his debut season in London following his transfer from Manchester City, the 22-year-old had a brilliant campaign that propelled the team back into European contention. He had scored twice in Enzo Maresca's first five league games after netting 22 goals the previous season.

Cole Palmer becomes the third player in league history to score at least three goals in a match for Chelsea, behind Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard, and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Palmer just made his 39th league appearance for Chelsea in the match against Brighton after arriving from Manchester City during the 2023 summer.
