Manchester United's 2023/24 season was poor as they finished 8th in the league table and bottom in the UEFA Champions League group stage. However, a win in the FA Cup final against Manchester City earned them a group-stage slot for the UEFA Europa League. INEOS management has decided to continue with Erik ten Hag for the upcoming season as there were speculations that the Dutch manager would be sacked after the side lost 14 games in the English Premier League.

The Red Devils will be facing Fulham on the very first day of the PL for the 2024/25 season. Ahead of the new season, the management is already in talks with some footballers. Jean-Clair Todibo was one of the main targets for United for the upcoming season but the talks have been currently off and highly unlikely due to UEFA rules.

The talks between the club and the footballer were in advanced stages. But the deal will be off as INEOS owns a controlling share in Manchester United and Nice. Because both teams share ownership and will compete in the same European league next season, UEFA cannot give the green light to sign the French central defender. Both teams will be participating in the Europa League.

Is Manchester United's Europa League participation doubtful?

According to recent reports, Manchester United will be permitted by UEFA to participate in the same competition as Nice next season under specific circumstances, however, this might be a one-time exception.UEFA cannot approve participation in the same European competition the following season.

The ownership issue has raised worries that Man United might be demoted to the Europa Conference League. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's firm has a 27.7% share in United and oversees football operations at Old Trafford, in addition to owning the French club. This will be interesting to look at whether the Red Devils play in the second-tier league or not. There will also be a bunch of footballers that will be on the sale list for the upcoming season.
