The teen attacking midfield Claudio Echeverri has been in the media headlines since his transfer to Manchester City was confirmed. The Argentine teen, who is celebrating his 19th birthday today on January 2, is set to leave his Argentine club as the ‘End of loan’ between River Plate and Man City has its deadline on January 25, 2025; the loan transfer was initiated between the two clubs almost a year ago on January 26, 2024.

Meanwhile, the media reports also understand that the 19-year-old will be available to be a part of the Etihad squad after mid-February. He will be relieved from his services with River Plate after the conclusion of the South American U20 Championship in mid-February.

However, Echeverri's transfer to the City was scheduled for January 25, 2025, but the top leaders at Etihad have permitted the teen to play for River Plate in the South American U20 Championship. So, the City fans will have to wait to see the young Argentine sensation in action for the club. 

“River became my second home” – Claudio Echeverri’s heartfelt goodbye message

In the same line of events, Claudio Echeverri himself also came up with his first words after the official announcement of his return to the City. The youngster penned down a heartfelt message for his fans back home at the River Plater club in Argentina.

“Today I have to say goodbye to the club of my life, the one I joined at a very young age with a lot of dreams to fulfil,” wrote Claudio Echeverri in the post he shared from his official Instagram handle last month on December 23, 2024.

River became my second home, the club that shaped me not only as a professional but also as a person. I want to thank the fans, teammates, coaches, managers and people who work at the club for all these years,” he added later.

Furthermore, Echeverri also extended his gratitude to his family and friends followed by a final goodbye message to his home club River Plate.

“Also, to my family and friends, none of this would have been the same without them. I will miss them and I will continue to be a fan wherever I get to be. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and see you soon River Plate,” he concluded
